Traditional Chinese Medicine history goes back over 3,000 years. The ancient Chinese, like all of us, had to struggle against diseases in order to stay in good health. In the process, they came to see the benefits of consuming herbs (Chinese herbology), inserting needles in the body (acupuncture), massaging the body (Chinese manipulative therapy), and exercising the body (qi-gong and tai-qi).
In China, virtually all kinds of disorders have been treated by TCM. In general, pain and muscular symptoms are more effectively treated by acupuncture, Gua Sha and Moxibustion, skin diseases and diseases of internal organs by herbs, hand and foot reflexology. For some chronic conditions, people have found TCM treatments to be a welcome supplement to their medically prescribed regiments.
